About Fluid Focus Retreats

Born from the curious minds of people who figured paradise was the perfect lab, Fluid Focus blends freediving, yoga, and science-backed mindfulness into one immersive experience. Freediving isn’t just about depth or time — it’s about rewiring how you meet yourself.

Every dive becomes a reset for your nervous system, every breath a lesson in resilience.

Across Indonesia (and soon beyond), our retreats combine ocean training, yoga, meditation, and nutrition — curated to inspire, challenge, and leave you with skills that outlast the tan lines. From ancient pranayama to the physiology of deep-diving marine mammals, we mix modern research with timeless practices — and add just enough style (and salt) to keep things fun.

Whether you’re new to freediving or looking to fine-tune your technique, we meet you where you are… and take you deeper.

Why We Dive

Our retreats start with a simple idea: anyone can learn to freedive — and in doing so, change the way they experience life. We’re not chasing records or depth charts; we’re exploring the art of being fully present. (And honestly, who couldn’t use more of that?)

Spend a week with us immersed in creativity, connection, and the best kind of saltwater therapy. Yes, you’ll dive with mantas, turtles, and coral gardens so healthy they feel like another planet — but the magic truly happens suspended in the endless Big Blue, where time slows and clarity finds you.

Armed with practical tools, breath training, and a little patience, you’ll leave not just as a better diver, but as someone who understands themselves — and the ocean — on a deeper level.

How Our Retreats Are Designed

Each of our retreats follows the same core blueprint: a balance of learning, exploration, and deep restoration—anchored in the water, guided by breath, and connected to nature. Yet all of our retreat locations are unique, and amazing. Some take place in remote coral sanctuaries, others in gentle island currents or temperate coastlines—but every one is built on the same foundation: connection. Connection to the ocean, to your body, to your breath, and to a slower, more intentional (yet disciplined) way of being.

We design each experience to ensure guests are set up for success. Mornings often start with yoga or breathwork to set the tone. Days are spent in and around the water—freediving, exploring reefs, learning about marine life, and practicing the art and skill of presense. Evenings are for relfective learning, workshops, good food, and the kind of conversations that happen easily when you’ve shared something epic with others.

Our approach isn’t about performance or depth—it’s about full immersion. Whether you join us as a total beginner or a seasoned diver, the goal remains the same: to help you feel at home in the water, grounded in your body, and connected to something bigger than yourself.

Each retreat location is its own special sauce, but they all share a similar goal and vision.

Be sure to read through each retreat location to see the full offerings and itinerary details.

More than Just Freediving

At Fluid Focus, freediving is the doorway — but what you find on the other side is a calmer, more regulated way of living. We weave water training with yoga, breathwork, meditation, and mindset practices, creating a retreat that feeds both the explorer and the scientist in you.

Our facilitators bring more than diving expertise; they carry years of training in physiology, mindfulness, and movement — fusing these into workshops that feel less like lectures and more like revelations. The result? A toolkit you’ll carry long after the retreat, ready to use whenever life gets noisy.

Accommodations and Comfort

We take pride in working with great partners. All of our accommodations, no matter which location you choose to join, are chosen to ensure that guests have adequate comfort, and some much needed rest. We work closely with our accommodation and food partners to make sure every detail is taken care of. And if something falls short, we encourage feedback. We aren’t newbies to this anymore and we are proud to say that our partnerships are at the core of what we do. Instead of jumping around to new places, we like to stick with what works, and make it better.

All of our locations offer the chance to have either shared or private accommodation. For some retreats private accommodations are reasonably more expensive than shared, but for others we need to have a private surcharge to make sure we can. make it sustainable. If retreats sell out and we can no longer accommodate you in the designated villa or retreat, we have overflow options we can help to organize.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Yes. In fact, opening up the world of freediving and ocean therapy to newbies is one of our favorite things to do. Regardless of the outcome, we are confident participants will walk away with tremendous insight as to how the breath, body, and water combine to empower us. Retreats are designed to provide value to guests of all levels of experience.

  • Equalization can be a tricky part of any freediving course, but with proper preparation, time and relaxation techniques, many students can overcome this challenge. Our instructors are adeptly trained to help guests overcome a variety of obstacles. We provide resources for participants to study before the retreat, and personalized workshops and training for those who need more.

  • Believe it or not, we ask guests to leave the goals at the door (or on the boat ride over) and focus on the process. Freediving is one of the few sports we have encountered where having a strong expectation or goal can create a barrier. Instead, we approach the process with a healthy amount of action, training, and surrender. This doesn’t mean we aren’t going to work, it just means we are going to do so in a constructive manner that emphasizes the learning process.

If a goal is necessary, let it be to arm yourself with techniques that will benefit you in various walks of life, enjoy the ocean therapy, and invigorate yourself with a community of like-minded water lovers.

  • We are constantly monitoring energy levels- Freediving is deceivingly exhausting. Most retreat days consist of morning yoga followed by 3-4 hours of freedive practice and training. Afternoons and evenings are reserved for workshops and personalized coaching, as well as adequate rest time. We give guests a dry day in the middle of the week to rest their ears, see the island, or partake in optional activities should they have the energy.

  • You bet, we crafted a mini-immersive program with our buddies at Blue Corner Freedive, lovingly called “Freedive Rehab”. This 7-day program takes people through freediving, yoga and various workshops to introduce the holistic side of the lifestyle. Find out more information on this program here.
